Quitting |
||
As many of you will know, the offence of quitting means leaving your vehicle on a road with the engine running and nobody in the vehicle. I am sure you will have seen this on more than one occasion in your everyday life. Last year this practice was prevalent on numerous occasions, where drivers would nip into a shop or briefly drop into see family and leave the car with the engine running, and often leave valuables such as wallets, handbags, house keys etc on the passenger seats. In particular when the winter months brought freezing temperatures drivers would leave the car running on the driveway whilst it defrosted and they waited indoors. Last winter several vehicles were stolen whilst carrying out this practice. One was also stolen from outside a shop in Cheadle under the same circumstances. There is no doubt that some of these vehicles were targeted. If our criminal fraternity are witnessing cars being left on driveways in these circumstances, its then easy for them to sit up the following day and goodbye car. I will be sending part of this message again closer to the winter months. | ||
